Eddy Current Testing

Advanced Eddy Current Testing for Non-Destructive Inspection

Eddy current testing is a fast and reliable non destructive testing method used for rapid inspection of conductive materials. By generating electromagnetic fields and monitoring the resulting eddy current, the method accurately detects surface, crack material mix ups, grinding burns and microstructural variations without damaging the component.

Semi-Finished / Material Testing

Semi-Finished / Material Testing solutions are designed for reliable inspection of raw and semi-processed materials to ensure uniform quality, detect defects at an early stage, and maintain consistency in subsequent manufacturing processes.

Component Testing

Component Testing solutions are designed to ensure precise and reliable inspection of individual manufactured parts, helping detect defects early and maintain consistent quality, safety, and performance standards across critical industrial applications.

Portable Solutions

Portable Eddy Current Solutions are compact and easy-to-use inspection systems designed for on-site testing, enabling quick and accurate detection of surface and near-surface defects without the need for extensive setup.

Application Notes

Application Notes provide detailed technical guidance and practical insights to support the effective use of eddy current testing solutions across a wide range of industrial inspection applications.

Eddy Current Testing Solutions and Equipment

The principle of eddy current testing is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction An alternating current flowing through a probe coil generates a magnetic field. When a probe is brought near a conductive material, circulating electrical currents known as eddy current are induced in the component. Any variation in material properties, geometry, conductivity, permeability or presence of defects detects the eddy current flow. These changes are detected and analysed by the eddy current testing machine, enabling the accurate assessment of component quality.

Eddy current testing is widely use because it offers high inspection speed, repeatability and sensitivity to small defects unlike penetrate or magnetic particle inspection. ECT requires minimal surface preparation and delivers immediate results.

Eddy current testing machines are designed for continuous industrial operation and can be configured for rods, bars, tubes, wires, fasteners.

At EECI we provide eddy current testing equipment and automated inspection solutions designed for high-speed production environments ensuring consistent quality process control and defect detection across various industries.

What is Eddy Current Testing?

Eddy Current Testing (ET) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method that uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and near-surface defects in electrically conductive materials. By inducing eddy currents into the test material, this technique identifies cracks, corrosion, material thickness variations, and other discontinuities without causing any damage. ET is widely used for quality control, preventive maintenance, and inspection in industries such as aerospace, automotive, power generation, manufacturing, and oil & gas due to its speed, accuracy, and reliability.

Benefits of Eddy Current Testing

Eddy current testing offers several advantages that make it a preferred choice for industrial inspection:

  • Rapid inspection speed
  • High sensitivity to surface defects
  • Non -destructive and no-contact method
  • Suitable for automated inspection systems
  • Accurate material sorting capability
  • Reduced production downtime
  • Enhanced product quality assurance
  • Cost -effective quality control solution

These advantages make eddy current testing an efficient and cost-effective solution for production environments and in-service inspections.
