What is Magnetic Inspection?

The magnetic particles inspection test begins by magnetizing the component using a controlled Magnetic field causing magnetic flux leakage at the discontinuity. Fine magnetic particle applied either as a dry powder or wet suspension are attracted towards leakage areas and accumulate and the defect creating a clear visual indication are viewed under visible light or ultraviolet (UV) light where fluorescent particles are used.
